WHY YOU SHOULD SEE THE NEW WHITNEY MUSEUM

I don’t know what to do with art. Do I stare at it until it speaks to me? Do I speak to IT? I’m quite intimidated by, and deeply curious about, modern and contemporary art. Don’t judge me when you read how ignorant I am! Performance art? Now that’s another story. It’s probably the intimidation factor that keeps me away from art museums, but I’m trying to be more intentional about exploring New York’s vast art offerings. Today I visited the new Whitney Museum downtown and I’m so glad I did! It is an absolutely gorgeous facility with so much to explore. It’s 22 dollars to enter if you’re not a member (membership is 125 for the year) and an extra six bucks for a “multimedia,” audio guide. I highly recommend working your way down from the 8th floor, which has a stunning terrace overlooking the Meatpacking District and Lower Manhattan. There’s a cute cafe there too which I plan to hit up next time, but that would require another $22 entry fee. Boo!
